Job Overview
This is a flexible permanent part-time role that offers a minimum of 16 hours per fortnight, spread across Monday to Friday in shifts ranging from 3-4 hours each.
The selected candidate will be responsible for supporting the general medical admission assessment of patients admitting to a private clinic as voluntary clients.
As the primary care provider, you will collaborate with other team members to deliver comprehensive patient care under the guidance of a treating psychiatrist.
Responsibilities:
Conduct thorough assessments to identify patients' needs and ensure appropriate treatment is implemented in collaboration with the visiting medical officer (psychiatrist).
Implement evidence-based medical care plans to achieve identified outcomes.
Prioritize and provide medical care according to professional standards and hospital policies and procedures.
Provide support in clinical problem-solving, act as a role model, and resource person for staff.
Assist with education of clinical staff and medical students within areas of expertise.
Participate in discharge planning, coordinating activities with other healthcare professionals to optimize patient outcomes.
Ensure medication prescription, management, and documentation comply with legal and hospital policy requirements.
Provide effective first-line management during medical emergencies and code situations, including the management of potentially aggressive patients.
Requirements:
Current and relevant registration with AHPRA.
Fellowship of the Royal Australian College of General Practitioners.
Minimum of 3 years post-graduate experience as a General Practitioner.
Competence in providing advanced life support measures.
Effective interpersonal and communication skills.
Desirable: Experience in an acute mental health care facility.
