About the Team
The Fostering and Family Care Team is responsible for the recruitment, assessment and retention strategies of community foster carers and provides support to districts, the sector and ACCO's in the Out of Home Care system. Your role within the team will primarily consist of recruiting and assessing potential communiting foster carers. You will be part of the Fostering and Family Care team, working within the Out of Home Care stream. The Out of Home Care stream leads out of home care arrangements for children at risk of harm and / or abuse, who cannot reside safely within their family home.
The Opportunity
As a Senior Child Safety Practitioner Care Services, you will be responsible for:
* providing services to children in the CEOs care in accordance with Part 4, Division 5 of the Children and Community Services Act 2004 and other relevant legislation to ensure the safety and protection of children,
* working collaboratively and innovatively with District staff and Foster Carers, community groups and other stakeholders in line with the Care Team Approach to build local capacity and resources to meet the placement and care needs of children and young people,
* ensuring Departmental Statutory Obligations and Practice Standards are complied with in relation to placements of children in the CEOs care,
* undertaking robust and comprehensive assessments of potential community foster carers against legislated competencies,
* actively participating in recruitment strategies and retention,
* undertaking project work within the team and across Statewide Services and other duties as required by the Director Fostering and Family Care, General Manager OOHC and Executive Director Statewide Services.

There is currently one [1] fixed term-part time position available for immediate filling until 1 December 2026 with the possibility of extension.

Qualification Requirements
You must have a Bachelors degree in Social Work, Psychology, or relevant human services area to be eligible for this position. All overseas qualifications must be assessed for Australian equivalency.
