The Opportunity
This finance role sits within a key business area of a large, well-established department.
Offering either a permanent section 26 transfer or a long-term non-ongoing contract, this position gives you the chance to play a central role in the division's financial management and decision-making.
You'll oversee large budgets (around $15 billion) and work closely with a range of program areas to support effective financial outcomes.
The Role
Key responsibilities include but are not limited to:
* Provide high-quality financial advice to senior leaders within the division
* Lead budgeting, forecasting and month-end reporting activities, ensuring accuracy and transparency
* Partner with program areas to support planning, performance tracking and effective use of resources
* Develop insights and analysis to inform operational and strategic decision-making
* Manage divisional financial risks, commitments, and funding allocations
* Oversee the preparation of financial reports, briefs and submissions
* Support compliance with departmental, APS and government financial frameworks
* Identify process improvements and drive efficiencies across financial operations
* Build strong relationships with internal stakeholders, acting as a trusted adviser on financial matters
The Ideal Person
This role will suit a skilled management accountant with extensive practical expertise in budgeting & forecasting in the APS environment.
You will demonstrate high level interpersonal skills, excellent communication and the ability to prioritise competing workflows in a rapidly moving context.

Salary / Rate
