We areseeking an innovative and passionateDesign and Technology (Food and Textiles) Teacherto join our Secondary team on a full time permanent basis from Term 1, ****.
Theroleis responsible for delivering engaging and effective learning experiences in the areas of Food Technology and Textiles for students in Years 7–12.
This role aims to foster creativity, problem-solving, and technical competence while maintaining a strong focus on safety, sustainability, and a Christian worldview within the design and technology curriculum.
The successful applicant will:
Plan and deliver engaging lessons aligned with the Australian Curriculum.
Develop students' practical skills in food preparation, nutrition, textiles, and sewing.
Maintain safe and efficient operation of specialist classrooms and equipment.
Contribute to curriculum development and the integration of technology and sustainability in design learning.
Participate actively in the life of the College, supporting its Christian ethos and values.
Registration (or eligibility for registration) with the Queensland College of Teachers (QCT).
Commitment to the Christian ethos of the College, active in a local church and in full alignment with theCollege's Statement of Christian Beliefs (pastoral reference required).
Demonstrated knowledge of the Australian Curriculum: Design and Technologies (Food and Textiles contexts).
Experience teaching across junior and senior secondary levels (Years 7–12).
Strong organisational and classroom management skills, particularly in practical learning environments.
Qualifications in Home Economics, Food Technology, Textiles, or related Design and Technology fields.
Experience teaching Hospitality Practices or Applied Textiles subjects (Years *****).
Current first aid/CPR and food safety certifications.
