About the Role
The Field NHVAS Mechanic is responsible for the installation, maintenance, repair, testing, and inspection of rig mechanical equipment and systems, ensuring everything runs smoothly and safely.
You'll be working in the field, applying your expertise while upholding the highest quality, safety, and compliance standards under NHVAS and legislative guidelines.
Key Responsibilities:
• Provide daily mechanical support to rigs, camps, and maintenance teams across field operations
• Conduct inspections, maintenance, servicing, and repairs on mechanical and hydraulic systems
• Install, troubleshoot, and repair hydraulic, fuel, and electronic engine control systems
• Interpret and work from hydraulic schematics, mechanical diagrams, OEM specifications, and technical instructions
• Carry out and document preventative and reactive maintenance in accordance with company and NHVAS standards
• Operate equipment safely and in compliance with company and client procedures
• Maintain inventory of spare parts and service tools; ensure availability for field deployment
• Complete detailed daily reports, timesheets, repair logs, and safety documentation
• Update maintenance activities using the MEX system
• Contribute to operational planning and continuous improvement initiatives
About You:
To be successful in this role, you'll have:
• A relevant trade qualification (e.g. Heavy Diesel Mechanic, Heavy Vehicle Commercial Mechanic or similar)
• Proven experience working in field or remote environments, ideally within oil, gas, mining or heavy industry (preferred)
• Sound knowledge of mechanical and hydraulic systems maintenance
• Strong diagnostic, troubleshooting and repair skills
• The ability to read and interpret technical drawings, work instructions and OEM procedures
