Census Engagement Managers are crucial to ensuring the accuracy of representation in the Census.

The successful candidate will be responsible for managing engagement activities, fostering positive relationships, and meeting with community stakeholders.

The Census is a critical component of our nation's statistical framework, and as a Census Engagement Manager, you will play a vital role in ensuring its success.
You will be responsible for planning, management and undertaking engagement activities for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples and communities.
Engage directly with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities, Elders, organisation, and service providers to raise awareness of the Census and encourage participation.
Assist in recruiting and training a team of field and engagement staff emphasising cultural competence and sensitivity.
Conduct field work with safety and care and ensure the safety and well-being of your team.
Leverage your strong community connections to promote Census job opportunities, support local recruitment, and ensure Census messaging is delivered in culturally appropriate ways.
Provide assistance in gathering support for the Census from community organisations and service providers.
Provide in-field assistance when required for Census assisted completion activities.
Supervise and assist a team of field and engagement staff for procedural queries as required.
Be responsible for the storage of materials relating to the promotion of the Census and where required, store materials for a team of field and engagement staff working in your area.
Assist in the implementation of Census activities designed to reduce barriers for the public and increase participation in the Census, for example, Fill-in-Form and information.
To succeed in this role, you will need:
* Experience working with and/or engaging with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples and communities, and knowledge of issues impacting Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples.
* Strong community engagement skills, with the ability to build trust and develop respectful relationships with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities, Elders, and service providers.
* Confident communication skills, with the ability to share information clearly and appropriately with individuals and groups.
* Self-motivation and adaptability, capable of working independently and making informed decisions while respecting cultural and community dynamics.
* Local knowledge, including cultural, historical, and social understanding of the communities in your region.
* Leadership and coordination skills, with the ability to support and guide a team in a fast-paced environment, while maintaining cultural safety and responsiveness.
* Competency in using information technology such as mobile devices and web applications.
* Cultural capability and inclusive practice, with a demonstrated commitment to working in culturally safe and respectful ways.
* Ability to acquire an understanding of the Census and its processes, including work health and safety and handling personal information.
