The service offers a safe environment when placements break down or during transitional care.We seek Youth Workers experienced with at-risk youth, including managing behaviours of concern such as aggression, self-harm, and substance use.
The role involves creating a supportive environment, de-escalating conflicts, assisting with emotional regulation, and developing independent living skills.The service operates overnight from 5 pm to 10 am, with shifts including:07:00 am – 11:00 am04:00 pm – 10:30 pm10:00 pm – 07:30 am (awake shift required)ResponsibilitiesBuild rapport and collaborate effectively with young people to achieve positive outcomesManage behavioural escalations and support emotional regulationCommunicate with the care team and report incidents accuratelyPerform domestic duties such as cooking, laundry, cleaning, and preparing for evening intakeMaintain progress notes and recordsSkills & ExperienceExperience working with traumatised and neglected youth, managing behaviours of concernStrong interpersonal skills with young people and stakeholdersConfidentiality and professional boundariesExperience with culturally diverse or Indigenous young peopleQualification in Youth Work, Mental Health, or related fields (or willingness to obtain)Current First Aid Certificate (must be obtained before starting)Desirable: Experience with behavioural management approaches such as TCI, positive behaviour support, trauma-informed care, Sanctuary, or CARE modelsSuccessful candidates will undergo probity checks including National Criminal History Record Check, Department of Child Protection (DCP395), and Working with Children Check.Additional OpportunitiesWork for a leading social purpose organisationCareer development and ongoing trainingHow to ApplySubmit your resume and cover letter as a single document, then click Apply and follow the prompts.
