About the role
We are seeking a Senior Consultant to join our fast‐growing external audit team. The role involves ownership of the entire audit process – from planning and testing, through financial statement preparation, to final management letter submission. You will also delegate work to junior staff, ensure quality review, and mentor team members throughout the engagement. Presenting internal and external training and conducting presentations are additional key responsibilities.
Key responsibilities
* Complete the audit file for the full range of the firm's clients, from planning to finalisation.
* Deliver audit assignments within budget and in accordance with relevant deadlines.
* Explain data flows through accounting systems and related internal controls, enabling junior staff to document and test those systems and controls.
* Review junior staff work, recognise internal control weaknesses, and document them in a suitable management letter.
* Clear all Manager and Partner review points in relation to each audit assignment.
* Review financial reports from client trial balances and complete the disclosure checklist.
* Prepare non‐standard management letters, correspondences, and reports to clients.
* Complete special assignments under the direction of the Audit Manager.
* Work co‐operatively with other team members and mentor junior team members.
* Understand client business operations, needs, and expectations, and identify audit‐related issues.
* Provide constructive advice to clients and promptly and accurately follow up any queries.
Key skills and experience
* Minimum of 3 years' experience in an audit environment within a Chartered/CPA accounting practice.
* Degree qualified and near to qualifying or fully qualified as a CA/CPA.
* Technically proficient and keen to develop knowledge with the latest accounting and auditing developments.
* Previous experience mentoring and coaching junior staff members, and reviewing their work.
* Prior experience working with and developing good relationships with clients.
* Good time‐management skills and ability to prioritise work and meet deadlines for multiple clients.
* Professional presentation skills and strong interpersonal and communication abilities.
* Experience with an audit package such as Inflo and Microsoft Office applications.
