Our head office is located in South Hedland, Western Australia, approximately 350 kilometres north of the Mining Area C Project, with additional offices in Perth, Tom Price, and Karratha, enabling us to stay closely connected, remain accessible and responsive to the IBN membership.

The opportunity
Reporting to the Chief Operations Officer, the Senior Marketing and Communications Specialist will work across IBN to deliver our Communications Strategy and products. The Senior Marketing and Communications Specialist will develop strong relationships within IBN and across our partners, stakeholders and members.
The Senior Marketing and Communications Specialist will bring expertise in the creation of engaging materials for our members, content and design of our website and development of materials to support our research and media engagement, social media and advocacy work. Alongside this the Senior Marketing and Communications Specialist will bring strong analytical skills to monitor performance and refine our strategies.
The Senior Marketing and Communications Specialist will need excellent writing and conceptual skills, graphic design and social media fluency as well as a passion for informing and engaging our members and shaping the way people understand and regard IBN.
The role
Delivers on IBNs Communications Strategy to ensure consistent, accessible and strategic communication across all of IBNs channels.
Develops and distributes newsletters and reports and manages IBNs digital platforms, including social media and website.
Supports the creation of multimedia content, including video and podcast material.
Assists in the delivery of community events and member communications together with the Operations team.
Build relationships with partners, stakeholders and members to foster collaboration and support.
Tracks the performance of campaigns and provides regular updates to the Executive.
Generates media stories for coverage in Australian media outlets.
Works with Cultural Leads to develop material in culturally appropriate language.
Demonstrates a commitment to teamwork and contributes to decision-making.
The requirements
Ability to work with Aboriginal people and demonstrate an understanding of Aboriginal Australian culture.
Excellent verbal, interpersonal and written communication skills, with the ability to communicate sensitively and effectively with Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander people.
Proven time management and organisational skills and experience with managing a diverse workload, working to deadlines and maintaining a high attention to detail.
Strong digital literacy with experience including with Mailchimp, Canva and the Adobe Suite.
Hands on experience in developing communications products including social media posts, newsletters and reports.
Ability to work proactively, positively and effectively in a team environment to achieve outcomes.
Adaptable and open to learning new skills and methodologies.
Tertiary qualification in Marketing, Media, Communication or Arts or equivalent.
Experience with podcast and video tools (desirable)
