Ocius Technology is an Australian company that builds autonomous Uncrewed Surface Vessels (USVs). These USVs use the energy of the weather - sun, wind, and waves, to act as persistent monitoring and communications platforms.
We are embarking on an ambitious program of building and deploying multiple USVs for operations around Australia and beyond.
About the Role
As we scale to meet growing demand, we're seeking a Chief Financial Officer to join our executive team. This is an outstanding opportunity for a leader to build a high-performing finance function that underpins our next phase of growth.
If you are our ideal candidate, you will take a practical approach to building our business: comfortable to roll up your sleeves and get focused on what matters most (profit, cashflow, and revenue) and what our stakeholders expect (accurate and on time delivery of information, systems and services).
You will communicate with clarity and confidence, and take responsibility to ensure our stakeholders trust the alignment and accuracy of financial decisions.
Selection Criteria
Our selection criteria is the fundamental basis on which we conduct fair recruitment processes, and make robust hiring decisions. To succeed in the role you will need to meet all of the following criteria:
(1) Qualifications and Experience
* 15+ years across senior finance roles
* CFO or equivalent C-suite experience
* CA/CPA qualification
* Relevant tertiary qualifications
(2) Strong Hands-On Commercial Acumen
* Support the board and exec team in their decision making within the business, including but not limited to: cashflow analysis and forecasting; budgeting; expenditure reporting; profitability analysis; project accounting.
* Take responsibility for the oversight and management of all accounting and corporate records. Leverages our tools and systems (NetSuite; ADP).
* Engaged and passionate about ensuring that the work of their direct reports is accurate, secure and compliant.
(3) Experience Building a Fit-for-Purpose Finance Function
* A strong understanding of what a high performing finance function looks like in a high-growth, scaling organisation.
* Can develop talents and skills of team members, with clear roles and a customer service mindset.
(4) Technical Oversight and Governance
* Able to articulate risks and dependencies of management decisions.
* Design fit‑for‑purpose internal controls, owns audit readiness, and ensures financial governance keeps pace with growth.
* Understands the demands of working with large organisational customers and adapts reporting accordingly.

* Enjoys knowledge sharing within a cohesive executive team.

* Can work productively with our founders, the board, HR and our technical and operational leaders in a fast-paced environment
