Primary objective
Provide support to the Digital Policy Unit, within Information Services in the Department of Corporate and Digital Development,
on digital (ICT) and information management policies including whole-of-government digital policies across governance,
technology, security, acceptable use and web development and NT public-sector-wide information and records management
standards. The Digital Policy unit develops whole of government digital policy, monitors and articulates strategic policy direction
relevant to digital services within government.

Context statement
Information Services provides best practice advice and records management services to NTG client agencies. Structured into
several work streams, a wide range of services are delivered, including records management, help desk services, records appraisal,
sentencing and disposal, training development and delivery, Digital Policy and Freedom of Information.

Key duties and responsibilities
1. Support the development, review, research and creation of evidence-based policy related to digital policy and NT public sector

wide information and records management standards.
2. Provide administrative and secretariat support to the Digital Policy Unit.
3. Analyse and research trends and innovations in digital policy and information management nationally and internationally and

provide advice on their possible implementation in the Territory environment.
4. Support the development of a range of documentation on policy issues including policies, standards, letters, news items and

website content
5. Mange moderately complex policy matters, use initiative and operate relatively independently, with support from senior staff

or managers.
6. Cultivate and maintain strong relationships with both internal and external stakeholders.
7. Promote a culture of achievement and continuous quality improvement through constructive practices, with a focus on

improving the effectiveness and efficiency of services while maintaining a high level of professionalism and innovation.

Selection criteria
Essential
1. Demonstrated knowledge and experience in the development, implementation, maintenance, review and management of policy

documents.
2. Well-developed written and oral communication skills with the capacity to present information in a clear and concise manner.
3. Well-developed project management skills including strategic planning, implementation, compliance monitoring and reporting

practices to ensure delivery of project milestones within defined timeframes, scope and quality standards.
4. Experience or demonstrated ability to learn skills to provide administrative and secretariat support to committees, working

groups and the business unit.
5. Experience in fostering networks and building partnerships with key stakeholders.
6. Demonstrated strong work ethic with the ability to work independently, respond flexibly to changing circumstances, meet

deadlines, and deliver quality outcomes both individually and as part of a team.
7. Demonstrated work ethic and attitude emulating DCDD values of Commitment to service, Innovation, Ethical practice,

Accountability, Impartiality, Diversity and Respect.

1. Relevant qualifications such as policy management
