We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Automotive Electrician with extensive underground mining experience and strong expertise in SCADA and control systems to join a well-established underground copper mining operation in regional New South Wales. This opportunity will be offered as FIFO from Brisbane on an 8/6 roster and requires advanced diagnostic skills, leadership ability, and an understanding of underground mining electrical systems.
Key Responsibilities
* Lead advanced diagnostics and repairs on underground mobile equipment with a focus on SCADA, PLCs, and control systems
* Manage preventative maintenance and servicing of electrical and control systems on heavy underground plant machinery
* Oversee installation, troubleshooting, and repair of wiring, control modules, sensors, lighting, and communication systems specific to underground environments
* Diagnose and resolve complex electrical and control system faults efficiently to minimise underground equipment downtime
* Provide technical leadership and collaborate with mechanical fitters and operations teams in the underground mining setting
* Ensure strict compliance with all safety regulations and underground mining site standards
What We're Looking For
* Trade qualification as an Automotive Electrician (Certificate III or equivalent)
* Proven, extensive experience in underground mining environments—copper mining experience highly regarded
* Strong hands-on expertise with SCADA systems, PLCs, and electronic control systems used in underground mining equipment
* Familiarity with Sandvik, Epiroc, or equivalent underground mobile equipment and their control systems
* Excellent fault-finding, problem-solving, and decision-making skills tailored to underground operations
* Demonstrated leadership and mentoring experience within mining maintenance teams
* Strong safety focus with the ability to work independently and within teams underground
* Willingness to commit to FIFO 8 days on / 6 days off roster from Brisbane
