The National Gallery of Australia's Security Department is committed to delivering high-quality security services that protect the National Collection, ensure the safety and satisfaction of visitors and staff, and enhance the visitor experience in support of the Gallery's mission to preserve and promote Australia's cultural heritage. As a Security Officer, you will be a key member of a collaborative team, delivering professional, client-focused security services in a prestigious cultural institution. Your responsibilities include:

* Protecting the National Collection.
* Ensuring the safety and meeting the service needs of visitors and staff.
* Supporting the objectives of the National Gallery's Corporate Plan, including cultural preservation and visitor engagement.
* Upholding a safe and welcoming environment through the use of security systems and procedures.

This is a casual position within the Building Services and Infrastructure Portfolio. Compensation includes shift loadings and penalties as outlined in the Gallery's Enterprise Agreement.

The key duties of the position include:

* Conduct regular patrols, applying procedural knowledge to safeguard the National Collection and Gallery premises.
* Actively monitor and respond to security systems, such as alarms and cameras, to identify risks and maintain a safe environment.
* Assist visitors with directions and information, applying established procedures to enhance their experience and resolve straightforward queries.
* Assist in coordinating and responding to incidents and emergencies under supervisor direction, ensuring staff and visitor safety.
* Complete incident reports as required, analysing and documenting events accurately under supervision to support compliance.
* Support security arrangements for events and exhibitions, maintaining a welcoming environment.
* Facilitate staff entry processes and contractor access, ensuring compliance with security protocols.
* Act as Deputy Chief Warden under direction during emergency situations.

Eligibility

Citizenship: To be eligible for employment with the Gallery, you must be an Australian citizen.

Police Check: To be eligible for this role you must complete a police check.

Security Assessment: The successful applicant will be required to obtain and maintain a Baseline security clearance. Loss of a security clearance at any time will lead to termination of employment.

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION - Qualifications, Certifications and Registrations

Role specific mandatory qualifications certification and/or registrations include:

* Possess a Certificate II in Security Operations
* Hold a current First Aid Certificate
* Working With Vulnerable People Check (WWVP) card, or the ability to obtain would be desirable
