The Centre's catchment comprises the area geographically north from Rockhampton, west to the NT border and includes island communities off the Queensland coastline. Young people incarcerated by the court system are from ten to eighteen years.CETC is a service provider within the Detention Centre therefore all staff are required to comply with a range of safety and security protocols.CETC delivers education programs within the Detention Centre for 48 weeks of the year. Staff will operate on a roster, with leave allocation falling outside the mainstream school holiday periods. All staff employed need to be willing and able to work during the school holidays.About the RoleThe role will be incredibly varied, and you will be required to provide support in areas such as: junior school, hospitality, library, industrial design, HPE, art, textiles, music, literacy and numeracy.You will help teachers and students with various tasks. You will assist with sports events, school trips, and manage teaching materials and equipment. You will also help keep accurate student records and assist with roll call. Your job will involve working well with the team, communicating clearly, and being sensitive to students with higher needs.Your role will include clerical duties like typing teacher notes, photocopying materials, checking bus lists, and organising school activities. You will also help with preparing exam papers, recording exam results, and keeping track of students' progress. Part of your job will be supervising students during activities, at playtime, and on the bus. You will also collect money for school activities when needed.You will support students with special needs, helping with tasks like assisting with meals, dressing, or toileting. You will also help with science, cooking, and textile classes, preparing and storing materials.Other duties include laundry, taking care of school equipment, and helping students find reference materials.
