What will this role achieve?
To provide financial governance, analysis and commercial influence in order to build and maintain an optimal portfolio based investment approach to Marketing expenditure. The Marketing Finance Analyst will control and be responsible for the understanding of the efficiency of our DM spend whilst ensuring that we are aligned to our pladis strategy.
What will be your key results?
The Marketing Finance Analyst is a key business partner to the marketing team, understanding investment allocations and identifying forward looking risks and opportunities versus strategy. The role requires being a critical friend, whilst building strong relationships, challenging plans and communicating outlooks with clarity.
Investment Understanding & Communication
1. Produce Monthly and Quarterly DM spend analysis and explain variances to budget across UK&I
2. Own ad hoc reporting related to DM, including requests from pladis Group
3. Lead agility of in year investment allocation alongside Comm Fin Director
Forward Looking Value Add
4. Deliver on-going tracking of Campaign spend and maintain awareness of campaign progress including expense recognition practices
5. Determine and communicate DM return on investment working with CMI to produce analysis on DM spend, focusing on both internal and external measures
6. Lead the DM meeting / engagement process, ensuring progress and review meetings are scheduled, agenda issued and actions recorded
Forecasting
7. Lead the Year Plan, AOP and forecast for Direct Marketing, ensuring that complete awareness is achieved at UK Exec level throughout the allocation and planning processes
8. Lead the LE process for DM and communicate any forecast over / underspends
9. Review GRIR and committed spend to achieve full risks and opps understanding
Governance & Compliance
10. Manage the month end process for Direct Marketing across pladis UK&I, including:
11. Ensuring accurate GR, settling any accruals / prepayments needed
12. Own DM Governance reviews with Marketing Leadership team
13. Lead financial compliance including working with auditors at Year End
Collaboration & Coaching
14. Work with wider Finance to support DM spend alignment with NPD plans (aligned with RGR process)
15. Lead DM training of Brand Managers and Shopper Managers – including DM spend categories, accruals process, completion of trackers
What do you need for this role?
16. Decision Support roles in FMCG
17. Consistent track record of providing robust and insightful financial analysis, including planning and forecasting
18. Validated Analytical thinking- conceptual/strategic
19. Cross functional experience
20. Excellent knowledge of Microsoft Office, particularly Excel and Powerpoint
