Your Role & Key Responsibilities:

* Support our care delivery team, ensuring patient safety and comfort in various settings, including the Emergency Department and wards.
* Enjoy the flexibility of a 24/7 rotating roster, working 8hr shifts.

* Assist the nursing team in delivering exceptional patient care and provide essential support within the ward, including patient transfers.

Ideal Candidate Fit

* The Health and Security Assistant (HASA) work collaboratively as part of a multidisciplinary team to support patient management and to help maintain a safe and secure environment for staff, patients, and visitors.
* The HASA role supports clinical staff by assisting with the care, comfort, and dignity of patients, as well as helping to safeguard the assets of South Western Sydney Local Health District (SWSLHD).
* Providing support to the care delivery team is central to the HASA role. You will assist the nursing team in the Emergency Department with patient care activities, under the direction and supervision of nursing staff.
* You will also provide general assistance within the ward environment, including cleaning duties, portering and transferring patients throughout the facility, and undertaking security-related tasks as directed by the Nurse in Charge and the Security Manager.
* HASA staff are expected to consistently demonstrate the highest standards of professionalism, customer service, and respectful communication in all interactions.
* Note: HASA staff, like all NSW Health employees, are required to contact police in situations involving suspected criminal activity on or around NSW Health premises.
* HASA staff must not place themselves, nor be expected by others to place themselves, at unnecessary risk while performing their duties. Where there are concerns relating to public safety, the police must be contacted.

Selection Criteria

To help us assess your suitability for the role, please tell us as much as you can about yourself in response to the questions below.

1. Must hold a current Class 1A Security License with the NSW Security Industry 1997 Class 1A, Current First Aid Certificate and must possess an Australian C-Class driver's license (including P1 or P2). Those who hold a C class license (P1 or P2 included) from a state other than NSW must obtain a NSW C class (P1 or P2 included) license within three months of appointment. Learner's licenses are not permitted.
2. Ability to complete a quality incident report. Please provide examples of the types of incidents you have completed an incident report for.
3. Give examples of your experiences with conflict resolution like verbal de-escalation and an example requiring you to apply physical restraint.
4. Willingness to work in a morgue environment, take directions from supervisors, and collaborate effectively within a multi-disciplinary team with willingness to work in a 7-day rotating roster that includes weekends, public and school holidays, including morning, afternoon and night shifts.
