I am seeking a Senior Financial Accountant to join a well-established retail/distribution business. This role sits within a high-performing ANZ finance team and reports directly to the Group Financial Controller.
You will oversee the month-end process, improve reporting quality, and support commercial decision-making across the business. You will also lead a small team and play a key role in driving process improvements and system implementations.
This role suits someone who is technically strong, commercially minded, and looking to step into a broader role with leadership exposure and long-term growth potential.
Key Responsibilities
* Manage the month-end close process including journals, accruals and reconciliations
* Prepare monthly, quarterly and annual financial reports
* Produce management reporting, variance analysis and board packs
* Oversee accounts payable, receivable, and working capital management
* Manage cash flow forecasting and treasury activities
* Support audit processes and liaise with external auditors and advisors
* Partner with key business units to provide financial insights and analysis
* Support budgeting, forecasting and business planning processes
* Drive process improvements, system enhancements and reporting efficiencies
* Lead, mentor and develop a team of 3 finance staff
Skills & Experience
* Approximately 6-10+ years' accounting experience
* Strong financial reporting and month-end experience
* Experience within distribution, retail or a similar environment desired but not mandatory
* Strong technical knowledge of AASB and IFRS
* ERP system experience (e.g. Xero, Dynamics or similar)
* Advanced Excel skills
* Proven ability to lead or mentor junior staff
* Strong communication skills and ability to partner with stakeholders
* Background in public practice (Big 4 or mid-tier) highly regarded
