ABOUT THE ROLE
As an HD Drill Mechanic at Norton Gold Fields, you are responsible for performing safe, high-quality maintenance, servicing, and repairs on the Open Pit Epiroc drill fleet, specifically T45 and D65 models. The role contributes directly to fleet availability, equipment reliability, and safe production by supporting planned and unplanned maintenance activities on a 2/1 basis, ensuring compliance with all relevant statutory requirements and health and safety regulations.
- Regular inspections of the work area to identify hazards, damage and defects.
- Conduct daily inspections, servicing, and component changeouts on Epiroc T45 and D65 rigs by OEM standards and maintenance schedules
- Perform reactive maintenance and fault diagnostics across mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic, and electrical systems
- Ensure all work complies with site standards, OEM specifications, and WA statutory classified plant requirements
- Communicate with planners on work progress, upcoming component changeouts, and parts requirements
- Conduct job hazard analyses (JHAs), participate in pre-starts and toolbox meetings, and report safety hazards
- Accurately complete work orders, defect reports, and service documentation using the CMMS (e.g., AMT, SAP)
- Assist team members, mentor apprentices (where applicable), and contribute to safe, efficient shift handovers.
- Communicate actively and openly with the direct supervisor.
SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE
- Australian Recognised Trade Certificate – Heavy Diesel Fitter / Mobile Plant Technology
- Minimum of 3-5 years of heavy diesel/mobile plant experience is required.
- Current, unrestricted Western Australian Class "C" Driver's Licence (Essential).
- Epiroc OEM training or demonstrated hands-on experience with T45 and D65 rigs
- Strong commitment to safety and a team player.
- Strong technical knowledge of hydraulic, electrical, and air systems on drill rigs
- Skilled in reading and interpreting OEM manuals, schematics, and service bulletins
- Australian work rights are required for this position.
