Job Description: The role of a Maths/Science Teacher at a Secondary School involves teaching students from years 7-9 and contributing to improving student performance and educational outcomes.
The teacher will be responsible for planning, preparing and delivering programs to achieve specific student outcomes, including literacy and numeracy skills. They will also be involved in critical reflection and inquiry to improve knowledge and skills, engage students and improve their learning.
The classroom teacher will have a guaranteed and viable curriculum developed around the Learning Architecture, incorporating instructional strategies like the Gradual Release of Responsibility, underpinned by Professional Learning Communities structures and protocols. They will work collaboratively with other staff members to build strong relationships with students and gain a deep understanding of student needs.
Key Responsibilities:
* Direct teaching of groups of students and individual students
* Contributing to the development, implementation and evaluation of a curriculum area or other curriculum program within the school
* Participating in activities such as parent/teacher meetings, staff meetings, camps and excursions
Required Skills and Qualifications: A degree in Mathematics or Science and a teaching qualification are essential. Relevant experience in teaching Mathematics or Science to secondary students is highly desirable.
