About the Sexual Assault & Family Violence Centre
We are a client-centred organisation, supporting the community throughout Barwon, Wimmera, and the South West regions, offering a range of specialist support services to people impacted by sexual and family violence, encompassing 24 hour crisis care, specialist response services, early intervention programs, Victims Assistance Program, Community Legal Services, trauma recovery programs, professional training and primary prevention initiatives.
About The Role
The Strategic Partnerships and Advocacy Advisor plays a key role in strengthening The SAFV Centre’s external partnerships, advocacy and strategic engagement in alignment with the organisation’s Strategic Plan.
Reporting to the Executive Director Prevention and Collective Impact, the role supports the organisation’s visibility, influence and collaboration across government, community, philanthropic and corporate sectors. The position contributes to coordinated communications, public engagement initiatives and advocacy efforts that elevate sector knowledge, service insights and lived experience perspectives relating to family and sexual violence.
Working closely with the CEO and Executive team, the Strategic Partnerships and Advocacy Advisor supports high-level organisational communications and stakeholder engagement activities, ensuring messaging and external representation are informed by service data, evaluation outcomes and evidence-informed practice.
The role contributes to strengthening The SAFV Centre’s voice in community and policy conversations, while building sustainable partnerships that support prevention, response and long-term social change.
The role contributes to building sustainable relationships across philanthropy, government, community and corporate sectors, supporting collective impact approaches that advance prevention, response and systemic change.

Key Selection Criteria
Essential Qualifications and Experience
Your application must address the following:
* Relevant tertiary qualifications in communications, public policy, law, social work or relevant discipline.
* Minimum two years’ experience working in primary prevention or related sector
Essential Skills and Knowledge
* Demonstrated experience in strategic partnerships, stakeholder engagement, communications, advocacy or related roles within community services, government or social impact sectors.
* Experience supporting philanthropic engagement, grant development or partnership cultivation.
* Strong relationship-building and stakeholder engagement capability.
* Highly developed written and verbal communication skills, including preparation of executive-level communications.
* Ability to translate complex service, policy or data information into clear and accessible messaging.
* Demonstrated understanding of trauma-informed and values-based practice.
* Strong organisational and project coordination skills with the ability to manage competing priorities.

This position is ongoing depending on funding.
Hours of work
The position is part time 0.8FTE
Salary and Conditions
Annual salary is as a Business Service, Admin & Support Services Level 5 classification, $117,020.22 annually (pro rata for part time). Salary will be commensurate with experience and skills.
Industrial Instrument: The Sexual Assault & Family Violence Centre Enterprise Agreement 2023.
Salary Packaging: Provided via Maxxia. PBI status with other expenses available to package above this cap. The Sexual Assault & Family Violence Centre is a Public Benevolent Institution.
Superannuation: The employer will also make superannuation payments on your behalf in accordance with the Superannuation Guarantee (Administration) Act 1992.
Probationary Period – 6 months with a review conducted during this time.
