Job Overview
FIFO Chefs from Brisbane and nearby suburbs (Sponsorship available). ISS is seeking an experienced Chef to work in remote mining villages across Central Queensland, operating on a 9‐day on / 5‐day off or 2‐weeks on / 1‐week off roster. The role reports to the Head Chef/Village Manager and is responsible for delivering high‐quality meals and maintaining a positive on‐site dining experience for residents.
Responsibilities
* Prepare and cook high‐quality meals consistently and efficiently.
* Support the kitchen team to maintain food safety, hygiene, and WHS standards.
* Assist with stock management, ordering, and kitchen operations.
* Collaborate with the Head Chef on menu execution and service improvements.
* Mentor junior kitchen staff and contribute to a positive team environment.
Qualifications & Requirements
* Minimum 23 years of professional experience as a qualified chef.
* Certificate III in Commercial Cookery recognised in Australia (or higher).
* Food Safety Certificate, or willingness to obtain one.
* FIFO experience in a high‐volume kitchen environment (desirable).
* Strong teamwork, communication skills, and ability to work under pressure.
* Knowledge of food safety standards, HACCP, and WHS requirements.
* Must pass a full Pre‐Employment Medical Assessment and Drug & Alcohol Screen.
* Current Coal Board Medical and Standard 11 Certificate (highly desirable).
* Valid National Police Clearance within the last 12 months.
* Full working rights in Australia.
