Job Overview
Ysbyty Aneurin Bevan, Ebbw Ward is looking for an enthusiastic and highly-motivated individual with proven clinical and managerial experience as a Ward Sister/Charge nurse, to motivate, inspire and lead the nursing team in achieving high professional and quality standards for the service, whilst promoting patient safety and experience.
Ebbw ward is a 32 bedded, single room environment which cares for patients in the primary and community care setting for individuals requiring a period of rehabilitation, complex discharge planning and ongoing hospital based medical intervention. Ebbw ward also has 8 palliative care in-patient beds. Ebbw Ward works closely with Hospice of the Valleys to provide holistic, high quality palliative care for those individuals with long term life limiting conditions and those patients approaching end of life intervention.
NMC registration required. The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this post; Welsh and/or English speakers are equally welcome to apply.
Main duties of the job
The successful candidate will be responsible for the line management and supervision of all registered nurses, healthcare support workers, clerical administrative staff and activities co-ordinator within their team.
They must be an effective communicator, who can demonstrate problem solving skills with the ability to work under pressure, managing staff and delivering patient focused care.
They will lead their team into 'Clinical Futures' and manage any changes required to ensure minimum disruption to the service provided.
The candidate must demonstrate knowledge and skills in caring for patient in an assessment setting, with a range of medical conditions whilst, ensuring that their multidimensional health needs are met.
They must be able to ensure that the nursing and healthcare staff on the unit are providing care to the expected standards while ensuring an understanding and knowledge of all the relevant polices and regulations within this role.
The successful candidate will work closely with the Senior Nurse for Ysbyty Aneurin Bevan, to ensure and demonstrate the delivery of a high standard of care in a safe, compassionate, responsive, effective and well led environment.
