About the Opportunity
We are seeking two enthusiastic Urban Planners to join our team on a permanent, full-time basis. You will play a key role in the delivery of land use, housing, and infrastructure strategies across Blacktown.

What You Will Be Doing
- Assist in the preparation of local planning strategies, LEPs, DCPs and planning proposals
- Conduct research and data analysis to inform planning projects
- Support stakeholder consultation and community engagement activities
- Provide planning advice to internal stakeholders and assist with planning certificate updates
Essential Qualifications and Experience
- Degree qualifications in planning or a relevant or related field
- Minimum of 12 months experience in urban planning or a related field
- Ability to prepare written documents and professional reports in plain English for a diverse audience
- Ability to manage projects relating to the urban environment
- Understanding of the New South Wales Environmental Planning and Assessment Act 1979, Local Government Act 1993 and other relevant legislation, regulations, state planning policies and instruments
- Demonstrated oral communication, information technology, data analysis, research, analytical and other problem‑solving skills
- Ability to work autonomously and within a team environment
- Ability to prioritise work, meet deadlines and deliver outcomes on time and to a high standard
- Conduct that demonstrates to others Council’s commitment to teamwork, customer focus, innovation, creativity, quality service and safety
- Current class C driver’s licence
Desirable
- Experience in master planning, or the development of planning strategies
- Experience working as a planner in Local Government, State Government and/or the Private Sector
Remuneration and Benefits
- Entry level for this position starts at $1,790.59 per week
- 35‑hour working week
