About Us

The Salvation Army is a Christian movement and one of Australia's largest and most-loved charities. We believe in doing good that transforms lives and futures for the better. It is this belief which drives us to find new ways and places where we can make a difference. From times of personal crisis to moments of national grief, we are always here — providing support, safety, community, and opportunity.

Why this role matters

The Salvation Army is one of Australia's largest providers of social and community services, supporting people in need across the country. The Bridge Alcohol and Other Drug Recovery Program operates within the Tasmanian Division of The Salvation Army Southern Territory and delivers a holistic, person-centred approach to recovery.

Our model of care, the Community Integration Model, focuses on supporting individuals experiencing problematic substance use to achieve personal growth, improved wellbeing, and long‐term community connection. The model integrates medical, psychological, and social interventions while leveraging community resources and support networks.

About The Role

We are seeking a compassionate and motivated Residential Support Worker to join The Bridge AOD Recovery Program team. In this role, you will provide day‐to‐day support to residents within a residential recovery environment while working collaboratively with case facilitators and the broader AOD team.

You will play a key role in ensuring residents are supported to engage positively with the program, comply with policies and procedures, and access the services they need to progress in their recovery journey. This is a part time position (20 hours a week role) based in Hobart. Salary is in accordance with SCHADS Level 3.

How You Will Make An Impact

* Provide practical and emotional support to residents within the program
* Ensure the centre, including client rooms and communal areas, is maintained to a high standard of cleanliness and presentation
* Support clients to engage with case plans and program expectations
* Provide welcoming and responsive support to clients accessing the service
* Identify and respond appropriately to high‐risk situations
* Assist in assessing client needs, issues, and circumstances, and communicate findings to the case facilitator team
* Develop positive and effective relationships that encourage self‐determination and participation
* Support clients to access community services and establish ongoing supports
* Maintain accurate and up‐to‐date client records in line with TSA standards and procedures
* Identify risks and elevate concerns to the Team Leader promptly
* Contribute to continuous improvement by identifying service gaps and opportunities
* Facilitate and support clients through assessment processes
* Assist with transporting clients to appointments and external services
* Support the AOD team with supervision of medication administration processes

What You Will Bring

* Experience supporting clients within Alcohol and Other Drugs (AOD), Mental Health, or related community services
* Experience working within a residential setting (highly desirable)
* Strong interpersonal and communication skills, both written and verbal
* The ability to work effectively within a team environment
* Strong organisational skills and the ability to meet deadlines
* A compassionate, client‐centred approach with sound professional boundaries
* A current Working with Vulnerable Persons Check (or ability to obtain)

Why Join Us?

* Salary packaging up to $15,900 tax free, plus $2,650 meal entertainment benefits.
* Generous paid parental leave (12 weeks for primary carers), a Purchased Leave Scheme (up to 8 weeks), and 5 days paid leave annually to experience other TSA programs.
* Access to Employee Assistance Programs and wellbeing initiatives, including Fitness Passport.
* Ongoing learning and development opportunities to help you grow and thrive.
* A truly meaningful career where your work contributes to lasting, positive social impact.
