Job Title: Communications and Community Engagement Adviser Location: Sunshine Coast Work Type: Lengthy Contract until 2028 Salary: $77 per hour, plus super A unique opportunity is available for an experienced Communications and Community Engagement Adviser to join a government organisation delivering a high-impact infrastructure project. In this pivotal role, you will lead the development and execution of strategic communications and community engagement initiatives. Your expertise in navigating complex issues, managing stakeholder relationships, and delivering consistent, clear messaging will be key to maintaining public confidence and fostering strong community connections throughout the life of the project. Key Responsibilities: Develop and implement a comprehensive communications strategy aligned to the project's objectives and key milestones. Lead community engagement activities, including public consultation and issues resolution, ensuring proactive and responsive communication with local stakeholders. Prepare high-quality content for a range of platforms including media releases, newsletters, social media, and internal updates. Coordinate with project teams, contractors, and government partners to ensure accurate and timely communication of project developments. Prepare speeches, briefing notes, and presentations for senior leaders and key stakeholders. Monitor media coverage, public sentiment, and industry trends to guide communications strategy. Provide expert communications and engagement advice to senior executives. Manage risk and support issues and crisis communication to protect the reputation of the project and broader organisation. Mentor communications professionals, fostering a collaborative and high-performing team environment. Report on the effectiveness of communication and engagement activities and recommend areas for improvement. About You: You are a confident and strategic communicator with a strong background in public relations, community engagement or communications-ideally within complex project environments in the infrastructure, construction, or government sectors. You're highly adaptable, outcomes-focused, and known for your ability to manage competing priorities and stakeholder expectations with professionalism. Requirements: A degree in communications, public relations, journalism or marketing Minimum of five 5 years' experience in a communications and engagement role. Certification with the International Association for Public Participation (IAP2), or willingness to obtain independently. Current Class 'C' Driver's Licence (desirable). Demonstrated success in developing and implementing communication and engagement strategies for large or complex projects. Exceptional writing, editing and presentation skills with a strong attention to detail. Strong interpersonal and negotiation skills, with experience engaging stakeholders at all levels.
