The Department of Trade, Business and Asian Relations (DTBAR) is responsible for driving opportunities to grow private investment and create jobs within the Northern Territory, supporting a strong, vibrant economy for all Territorians.
We provide strategic advice to government and deliver services to assist Territory businesses, including Aboriginal enterprises, to start, run, grow and innovate.
Within DTBAR, the Business and Workforce Delivery team provides tailored support to assist Territory business's to grow, adapt and thrive by providing practical, regionally grounded advice and connections that make a real difference.
As aTerritory Business Advisor, you support new and existing businesses in growing private investment, supporting business growth and creating jobs in the region.
This involves providing strategic business advice and information, referrals to government and non-government services and programs, and access to business improvement grants, training programs and workshops.
You will also feedback in-depth advice to government on the current status of the local business environment to inform future policy direction.
Your core responsibilities will include liaising with the local business community, industry sectors and key stakeholders to gain a comprehensive understanding of business issues, facilitating access to business improvement programs and support services, and delivering strategic advice aimed at stimulating growth and enhancing the overall business landscape.
This role will make good use of your high-level customer/client service experience, proven business acumen, and understanding of good business governance principles and appreciation of the challenges and opportunities facing start-up and established businesses.
Additionally, your highly developed written and oral communication skills, and ability to research, analyse and develop evidence-based solutions will be crucial to your success.
