Corporate M&A or Financial Services/ Funds Lawyer

$110,000 – $160,000 per year incl superannuation

Position: Positions available for Senior Lawyer and Senior Associate

Location: Canberra or Sydney

The Opportunity

Hazelbrook Legal is seeking experienced corporate, financial services/funds, or transactional lawyers who are looking to broaden their expertise while contributing to a diverse and sophisticated legal practice. This is an opportunity to work across a wide range of matters while deepening your specialisation in a high-performing, collaborative environment.

Based in either our Sydney or Canberra office, you will join a close-knit and dynamic team committed to delivering exceptional outcomes for clients across a variety of sectors, including financial services, biotechnology, emerging energy, private equity, and venture capital.

Your legal work will be tailored to your background and career goals, with clear development pathways in either of the following specialisations:

Financial Services / Funds Lawyers
You will be involved in:

Funds establishment and structuring (including retail and wholesale funds)

Financial services licensing and regulatory compliance

ETF advisory and product development

Disclosure and compliance obligations under the Corporations Act

ASIC and regulatory engagement

Advice on AML/CTF and related frameworks

Governance and risk management for financial services entities

Transactional / M&A Lawyers
You will be involved in:

Public and private M&A transactions

Equity investments and venture capital deals

Corporate structuring and shareholder arrangements

Corporate advisory, including directors' duties and governance

Commercial contracting and business sales

Legal due diligence and transaction management

Listed investment company (LIC) transactions and compliance

We are looking for lawyers who demonstrate:

Strong technical legal skills and commercial acumen

A proactive and adaptable approach to complex legal challenges

A collaborative mindset and willingness to contribute to team success

A genuine interest in building long-term client relationships and delivering strategic value

· For senior roles: experience managing teams, delivering strategic advice, and mentoring junior lawyers

Desired Skills and Expertise

Ideal candidates will be experienced Corporate, M&A or Financial Services/Funds lawyers with approximately 2-4 years PQE.
