About The Role
This is a full-time fixed term contract up to 30 June 2026 with a possibility of extension based on ongoing funding, located at Wollongong.

As a Peer Worker, your own lived experience of life changing mental health challenges, mental health service use, as well as periods of healing and personal recovery will be critical to support people accessing the program with their own lived experience of the same.

Duties

* Support people accessing GPH Mental Health Services
* Have a strengths-based, trauma informed, recovery outlook
* Identify opportunities for services that support the life they wish to live

Skills & Experience

* Certificate IV in Mental Health Peer Work (or commencement or a willingness to work towards qualification within first 6 months of employment).
* Direct lived experience of life changing mental health challenges, mental health service use, as well as periods of healing and personal recovery.
* Commitment to safely and purposely share lived experience to engender hope and support others on their personal recovery journey.
* Thorough understanding of the importance of personal and professional boundaries, ethical behaviour, policies, and procedures
* Ability to utilise interpersonal skills to develop and maintain effective and mutual relationships with consumers.
* Demonstrated ability to work both independently and within a multi-disciplinary team environment, inclusive of clinicians, service managers and other health professionals.
* Demonstrated effective written, verbal and computer literacy skills.
* Current drivers licence and willingness to travel as part of the role
