The purpose of the Forensic Services Group is to provide timely high quality and efficient forensic services in collaboration with community, government and non-government partners to make Queensland safer.

As a part of the Coronial Support Unit you will report to the Detective Inspector, Coronial Support Unit to provide high level advice regarding coronial investigations, support the Coroners and support the Coronial System Stakeholders.
Your Key Accountabilities
The core capability requirements for this role are:
* Review police reporting, including coronial documents of all sudden death occurrences and instigate or pursue inquiries to ensure the accuracy and timeliness of reporting.
* Provide planning and coordination of coronial investigations, including advice of capabilities, resources and alternate options available, to ensure the objectives of the Coroner and the Coronial Support Unit are achieved.
* Provide coronial investigation advice and support to QPS staff, investigate strategies, practices and relevant legislation concerning coronial inquiries.
* Liaise with QPS staff and Coroners to ensure all coronial files are comprehensively investigated to meet timeframes and legislation.
* Participate in multi-displinary project teams and contribute to effective working relationships, research, investigation and holistic improvement of matters affecting strategic policing outcomes related to coronial investigations.
* Provide effective and efficient support to the Officer in Charge of the Coronial Support Unit.
* Review and identify opportunities for improvement in quality and risk management relating to coronial investigations. Provide written submissions, oral briefings and strategic reports as required.
* Maintain effective networks, programs and other communication channels with internal and external stakeholders.
Mandatory
* Possess a current Queensland class 'C' drivers license of equivalent.
Qualification
* Possess a Cert IV in Investigations or equivalent work experience.

* The successful applicant will be required to undergo psychometric assessment prior to appointment.
