Senior Data & AI Governance Specialist
Location: Sydney/Melbourne – Type: Permanent, full time – Hybrid role, flexible working options available.
This senior role plays a key part in shaping QBE's data foundations to support AI and advanced analytics. You will drive improvements in data quality, governance and metadata, ensuring the organisation has trusted, scalable, and AI‐ready data to support better decision‐making.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead initiatives to improve data quality, metadata management, and data governance practices across the organisation.
- Define and implement data quality rules, standards, and frameworks to support AI and analytics outcomes.
- Develop and enhance semantic models, ontologies, and metadata structures to enable AI readiness.
- Partner with business and technical stakeholders to solve data challenges and embed best practices.
- Improve adoption and usability of data governance tools through scalable, self‐service approaches.
- Support integration and optimisation of platforms such as Ataccama, Collibra, and Databricks.

Key Requirements
- Strong experience in data governance, data quality, or metadata management.
- Hands‐on experience with tools such as Collibra, Ataccama, or similar platforms.
- Understanding of modern data environments (e.g. Databricks) and data architecture concepts.
- Ability to work across business and technology stakeholders to deliver practical outcomes.
- Interest in AI and how data underpins advanced analytics and emerging capabilities.
- 7+ years' experience in data roles within a regulated environment (financial services preferred).
