We are seeking a Poison Permit and Clinical Governance Lead (full-time), who thrives in fast-paced environments, embraces hands-on challenges and is eager to shape the future of Baseline's integrated services.
About The Role
The Poison Permits and Clinical Governance Lead will be responsible for overseeing the acquisition, maintenance, and compliance of poison permits in accordance with all relevant Australian state and territory legislation. This role ensures that all activities involving the use, storage, transport, and disposal of scheduled poisons are fully compliant with the Medicines and Poisons Acts and Regulations for all relevant Australian state and territory legislation.
The ideal candidate will liaise with government regulators, internal stakeholders, and operational teams to manage poison permit applications, renewals, amendments, and record-keeping while providing strategic guidance on poison-related compliance and risk management.
What You'll Be Doing
* Manage the end-to-end process for obtaining and maintaining poison permits, including Schedules 2, 3, 4, 4R/D and 8 substances as applicable.
* Monitor and interpret relevant legislation, policies, and changes in regulations from the Departments of Health of all relevant Australian state and territories.
* Ensure timely submissions of permit applications, renewals, amendments, and notifications in accordance with regulatory requirements of all relevant Australian state and territories.
* Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of all poison usage, storage, and handling in line with statutory requirements of all relevant Australian state and territories.
* Coordinate internal and onsite audits and inspections related to poison handling and reporting, address non-compliance issues promptly.
* Train and support staff involved in the handling or management of regulated poisons to ensure safe practices and legal compliance.
* Liaise with regulatory bodies, including the Departments of Health of all relevant Australian state and territories and other relevant agencies.
* Prepare reports and documentation for internal and external review, including annual compliance statements and incident reports.
* Develop and implement policies, SOPs, CPGs, SASAS / Medication Protocols and safety protocols related to poisons management.
* Working closely with the clinical operations team to improve and drive governance initiatives throughout the business.
What You Bring:
Essential
* An AHPRA Registered Nurse or an AHPRA Registered Paramedic qualification is essential.
* Strong knowledge of the Medicines and Poisons Acts and Regulations for all relevant Australian states and territories and the Poisons Standard (SUSMP).
* Excellent communication skills and ability to liaise with government regulators.
* High level of attention to detail and record-keeping accuracy.
Desirable:
* Experience working in healthcare, pharmaceuticals, mining, agriculture, or industrial sectors where poison use is regulated.
* Knowledge of WHS legislation and risk management practices.
* Experience with inventory systems or compliance software.
