Position : Painting Trades Worker

Salary : $76,000 to $79,000 plus superannuation per annum

Our client is seeking a skilled Painting Trades Worker to join their team working on various sites throughout Victoria.
As a Painting Trades Worker you will be responsible for performing high‑quality painting, finishing, and surface preparation tasks for residential and commercial projects. The role requires strong technical skills, safe work practices, and the ability to work independently or as part of a team to meet project timelines and quality standards.
Main Duties and Responsibilities
Surface Preparation
* Prepare surfaces by sanding, scraping, filling, patching, caulking, priming, and sealing.
* Remove old or damaged paint using chemical solutions, heat guns, or mechanical tools.
* Clean and smooth surfaces using sandpaper, steel wool, or power tools.
Painting & Finishing
* Apply paints, stains, varnishes, and protective coatings using brushes, rollers, and spray equipment.
* Perform colour matching, tinting, and decorative finishes such as sponging, marbling, and texture coatings.
* Apply undercoats, topcoats, and finishing layers according to project specifications.
* Ensure finishes meet required quality standards and correct any defects.
Equipment & Worksite Management
* Set up and operate ladders, scaffolding, and elevated work platforms safely.
* Protect surrounding areas using drop sheets, masking materials, and coverings.
* Maintain tools and equipment in safe working condition.
* Clean tools, brushes, spray guns, and work areas following completion of tasks.
Work Health & Safety
* Follow all WHS policies, procedures, and site safety requirements.
* Handle hazardous materials safely and in compliance with safety standards.
* Use PPE as required and participate in safety briefings and toolbox talks.
Teamwork & Communication
* Work collaboratively with supervisors, tradespeople, and team members.
* Communicate progress, variations, or issues promptly.
* Follow instructions and project plans to ensure timely completion of work.
* Maintain professional conduct with clients and colleagues at all times.
Requirements
* Certificate III in Painting and Decorating or equivalent qualification
* Minimum 12 months of relevant painting experience.
* Valid Victorian Drivers Licence
* Additional training in WHS, Working at Heights, or EWP operation (desirable).
* Proficiency in brush, roller, and spray‑painting techniques.
* Strong understanding of surface preparation and finishing processes.
* Ability to interpret instructions, job specifications, and product data sheets.
* Ability to work at heights and use trade equipment safely.
* Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality workmanship.
* Reliable, punctual, and able to work unsupervised when required.
Reporting Structure
The employee will report directly to the Director / Site Supervisor and may be required to work alongside other painters, apprentices and subcontractors.
Employment Conditions
* Full‑time employment: 38 hours per week.
* Work locations will vary based on project sites across Victoria.
* All employment conditions will comply with the Fair Work Act 2009 and the Building and Construction General On‑Site Award, where applicable.

* Maintain high‑quality workmanship across all projects.
