About the role
The Finance, Rates and Investment Branch provides financial leadership and stewardship for Council.
It is an enabling function that assists the organisation deliver on its Vision of "Liveable Melbourne, growing stronger together".
The Corporate Finance team provide a strategic centralised resource for corporate financial analysis.
This includes medium and long term Council strategic and financial planning, assessment of major projects and organisational initiatives, and relevant corporate finance and commercial finance activities.
The Senior Corporate Finance Analyst plays a key role in the provision of sophisticated 3-way financial modelling and other advanced financial models that contribute to strategic financial decision making, such as the Council's 10 Year Financial Plan and its subsequent refresh, major projects and other investment opportunities, commercial finance, risk management and financial sustainability initiatives.
The position develops and communicates the key financial performance metrics as a result of the 3-way financial models to internal and external stakeholders and conduct corporate finance and investment analysis to support the objectives of the organisation.

What your experience might look like
Tertiary qualification in a related discipline such as Accounting, Commerce, Economics or Finance
Post graduate qualifications such as Master of Finance, MBA, CFA, CPA or CA is not required but highly regarded
Circa 5 years of relevant experience in Corporate Finance, Investment Management, Equity Research, Investment Banking, Investment Valuations, Financial Modelling, Transaction Advisory, or similar
Proven financial modelling expertise including the ability to develop and maintain 3-way financial models, project finance models, Discount Cash Flow (DCF) financial models that consider the appropriate Net Present Value (NPV), Return on Investment (ROI), and payback period and models for capital management decisions
Proven ability to conduct investment research, benchmarking and valuations
Good understanding of the capital market
Strong interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills
Strong commercial acumen
