About the Opportunity
The Senior Category Officer plays a key role in delivering strong commercial outcomes for NSW Health, managing a category portfolio of approximately $25 million per annum. This role is responsible for leading procurement and commercial strategies, negotiating agreements, influencing stakeholders across NSW Health, and building effective supplier relationships to achieve best value for money.
Through strategic insight and robust reporting, the role supports the delivery of efficient, sustainable supply chain services that directly enable high-quality health outcomes.
In this role, you will:
* Provide expert procurement advice and support to staff and stakeholders and effectively manage agreed service and project outcomes to ensure successful delivery and a performance-based, innovative, responsive, and accountable customer-focused work culture to support the overall effectiveness of the procurement function.
* Manage the development of high-quality procurement documentation and negotiation plans for mid-tier procurements, demonstrate sound knowledge of the supplier evaluation and selection process.
* Lead the development of procurement negotiation strategies in partnership with business areas, leveraging detailed market intelligence, stakeholder insight, and risk analysis to set clear objectives and achieve optimal outcomes for lower-tier (lower/medium complexity)
* Develop Total Cost of Ownership models for supply arrangements and understand templates and guidance for cost modelling as well as the capture of savings.
About You
We are looking for someone who:
* Demonstrates extensive experience in procurement and category management within a large, complex service organisation, supported by relevant qualifications or equivalent experience, with proven capability in commercial and contract negotiations and end-to-end contract and supplier management.
* Apply strong analytical skills to analyse and interpret information, produce clear reports, creatively address challenges, and achieve effective, business-focused outcomes.
* Apply proven interpersonal, influencing, and negotiation capabilities to engage stakeholders, build strong relationships, and achieve high-impact business results.
