The Role
The Electrical Design Drafter is responsible for delivering primary and secondary concepts and detailed designs for HV infrastructure across GGC projects, including substations, transmission lines, and BESS installations. The role involves providing electrical design, drafting, and procurement support for high-voltage plant and equipment, ensuring all solutions are fit-for-purpose, technically sound, and aligned with client and stakeholder requirements.
Key Responsibilities
* Deliver fit-for-purpose primary and secondary HV (up to 500kV) substation and lines designs, ensuring compliance with client requirements, design standards, budget, and timelines.
* Prepare accurate design plans, schedules, work estimates, drawings, documents, and technical reports.
* Develop and implement design procedures, processes, and systems to support quality, performance, and productivity.
* Collect, analyze, and manage design-related information in a timely and accurate manner.
* Prepare scopes of work and deliverables for external design providers and provide technical support and oversight as required.
* Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives and maintain required certifications and authorisations.
* Demonstrate a strong commitment to safety, environmental responsibilities, and an inclusive workplace, ensuring compliance with relevant legislation and organisational policies.
Requirements
* Tertiary Qualified in Electrical Engineering and Or Drafting
* 2–5 years' experience in HV electrical design for substations, BESS, or utility-scale projects.
* Strong proficiency in CAD platforms such as AutoCAD and MicroStation.
* Experience using electrical design and modelling tools relevant to HV systems.
* Ability to operate and manage a CAD-ready workstation effectively.
* Solid understanding of industry standards, design practices, and project workflows.
