About the Role
The Fraud and Financial Crime team at our organisation safeguards its members and us by preventing, detecting, and responding to fraud and scams, while ensuring robust Anti-Money Laundering/Counter-Terrorism Financing (AML/CTF) compliance.
This newly created Senior Manager Fraud & Financial Crime role is an exciting opportunity to lead the prevention, detection, and response capabilities to the next level. You will provide strategic oversight and direction for fraud and scam prevention, AML/CTF operations, and financial crime programs.
As a key member of the leadership team, you will play a pivotal part in influencing the roadmap and transforming the approach to fraud and scam management and AML/CTF compliance.
Key Responsibilities:
* Fraud Prevention Strategy Development: Develop and manage a dynamic fraud and scam prevention strategy that effectively mitigates risk while minimising disruptions to members' banking experience.
* Strategic Implementation: Operationalise strategic plans and regulatory change obligations, translating the fraud and financial crime strategy into detailed implementation plans.
* Risk Mitigation Controls: Design and implement effective controls to mitigate fraud and financial crime risks across systems, processes, and customer interactions.
* Incident Investigation and Resolution: Lead the identification, investigation, and resolution of fraud and financial crime incidents, ensuring minimal impact on customers and operations.
* Solution Implementation and Utilisation: Oversee the implementation and best use of vendor-provided fraud and financial crime prevention and detection solutions.
* Insightful Reporting: Develop insightful reporting to support good governance and drive decision making about emerging threats, vulnerabilities, and better practice.
A desire to drive a reduction in member and organisational losses through improved prevention, detection, and recovery are essential for this role. Additionally, 15 years+ fraud and financial crime experience with 3+ years in a senior leadership capacity, tertiary qualifications in Criminology, Finance, Business, Economics, Law, or a related field, and/or advanced degree or certifications are highly desirable.
The ideal candidate will possess exceptional analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to derive actionable insights from data, as well as strong communication and stakeholder engagement skills, with experience presenting to Executive and/or Board audiences.
Leadership and change management skills, with a focus on building capability and fostering collaboration across teams, are also essential for this role. Experience gained within a retail banking or payments context is highly desirable.
