**Job Opportunity: Laboratory Management Role**
We are seeking a motivated and experienced laboratory professional to lead our team of construction materials testing technicians in North Brisbane. This role is pivotal in ensuring the quality and safety of construction materials used in significant infrastructure projects across QLD.
Our laboratory boasts a comprehensive range of capabilities and capacities across concrete, soils, aggregates, and rock testing, making it one of the most unique in Australia. As a senior technician or laboratory manager, this position offers a challenging yet rewarding experience with excellent support from the leadership team.
Key responsibilities include:
* Day-to-day management of the laboratory, ensuring timely and efficient delivery of field and laboratory work to staff;
* Effective rostering of employees to optimize lab performance and results;
* Training, education, and mentoring of employees to develop their skills and level of competency;
* Building relationships with key stakeholders by providing accurate technical feedback on various material types;
* Identifying issues and areas for continuous improvement, focusing on solutions;
* Safeguarding compliance, quality management, and continuous improvement in the laboratory, adhering to NATA standards;
* Leading a safety culture, promoting safe work practices, controlling environmental conditions, and addressing incidents promptly;
* Collaborating with broader functions teams to deliver projects and initiatives supporting business needs and performance enhancement;
* Working with the QLD/NT General Manager to expand laboratory scope when opportunities arise;
* Identifying growth opportunities and working with the QLD/NT Operations Manager and General Manager to quantify leads, conduct due diligence, build relationships, and manage invoicing;
* Undertaking sampling, testing, and reporting as required.
**Requirements**
* 5+ years' experience in field and laboratory construction materials testing, adhering to relevant Australian and QLDS standards;
* Demonstrated experience in managing or supervising teams in a laboratory environment;
* NATA Signatory with high competence and understanding of AS/QSD standards and knowledge of NATA ISO/IEC 17025 requirements;
* Strong written and verbal communication skills for diverse stakeholder interactions;
* Unwavering commitment to quality assurance and workplace safety;
* Excellent time management, organization, and prioritization skills, with the ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines;
* Ability to work autonomously and collaboratively, demonstrating high self-motivation;
* Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and required systems (LIMS);
* Effectiveness under pressure, prioritizing work to meet client demands;
* Diploma in Laboratory Techniques advantageous.
