The Role:
The role of the Environmental Compliance Officer involves in assisting with the development, implementation and management of environmental compliance systems and controls for the City of Ballarat.
This role primarily relates to environmental and planning compliance within the Landfills and Transfer Stations team which includes:
* Ballarat Regional Landfill, Smythesdale
* Closed Landfills;
* Gillies Street Transfer Station; and
* Other Council owned and managed contaminated or potentially contaminated land.
This position is a two year fixed term contract.
About You:
* Relevant work experience in the waste management/ environmental monitoring programs and rehabilitation plans / environmental industry and Local Government is highly desirable.
* Demonstrated ability to support contractor coordination and contribute to compliance-related activities.
* Familiarity with policies and procedures relating to waste and environmental management, with the ability to apply them in operational contexts.
* Experience in assisting improvement initiatives and contributing to project delivery under supervision.
* Understanding of health and safety issues relevant to work activities and work area.
* Strong in written and verbal communication skills, including experience in preparation of written reports.
* Experience in budgets tracking and procurement processes within delegated authority.
* A current Australian Driver's License is required.
