About the Role
An exciting opportunity exists for a qualified and experienced Heavy Vehicle Mechanic at Robertson Barracks.
Work Hours:
Monday - Thursday: 7:30am - 4:00pm
Friday: 7:30am - 2:00pm
38 hours per week (7.6 hours per day)
Competitive salary + 25% casual loading
Opportunity to transition to full-time employment
Key Responsibilities Include
* Perform trade-related maintenance and repairs on vehicles, plant and equipment.
* Service, diagnose, overhaul and repair engines, transmissions, differentials, suspension and brake systems.
* Work on 4x4 vehicles, trucks, tracked vehicles, earthmoving equipment, generators, pumps, compressors and drilling rigs.
* Conduct technical inspections
* Diagnose mechanical and electrical faults using testing equipment and vehicle computer systems.
* Repair and maintain diesel engines, hydraulic systems and attachments.
* Test and repair electrical systems including ignition and fuel injection systems.
* Inspect vehicles for roadworthiness and compliance.
* Perform brake diagnostics, repairs and hydraulic system servicing.
* Carry out minor body and trim repairs.
* Undertake welding (Oxy, ARC, TIG, MIG) and machining as required.
* Provide technical advice and report additional faults to supervisors.
What We're Looking For
* Certificate III in Heavy Vehicle Mechanic (or equivalent)
* Proven heavy vehicle mechanical experience
* Strong knowledge of diesel engines, hydraulics and heavy vehicle brake systems
* Ability to diagnose mechanical and electrical faults
* Welding experience desirable
* Defence experience desirable but not essential
* Current Driver's Licence (required)
* Heavy Rigid (HR) Licence preferred
* Police Check valid within 28 days
* Australian Citizenship required
