We are seeking qualified locksmiths with excellent judgement and a strong focus on detail, analytical and leadership skills, who are eager to deliver results. The position will provide an opportunity to work across DFAT's global network and with domestic and international partners, driving outcomes which ensure the departments interests are protected in an increasingly complex environment The initial vacancies to be filled from this process are based in Canberra. Our Ideal Candidates As an APS6 Diplomatic Security Officer, you will be an experienced locksmith who will be a part of a team delivering extraordinary results in security enabling functions on a global scale. You will be comfortable supporting and operating as part of a team and at times will be expected to work autonomously You will have demonstrated experience in security with knowledge of the Protective Security Policy Framework and have a strong record of delivering security outcomes both in Australia and to support DFAT's international network. You will be able to work with complex, sensitive and time critical security matters in a high tempo environment. You will be able to demonstrate prioritisation and initiative, management skills, sound judgement and analytical skills, strong communication skills, including well developed writing, influencing, and negotiating skills. You will have demonstrated competency in establishing, building, and maintaining relationships with internal and external stakeholders and developing a shared sense of security with colleagues. You will have the proven ability to engage appropriately with risk, work collegiately, with transparency and have a strong client and service delivery focus. You will demonstrate you can provide accurate, timely and considered security advice to stakeholders and clients with awareness of the broader strategic and operational impact based on relevant policies. The key duties of the position include Your duties and responsibilities will be aligned to the relevant APS Work Level Standards. As an APS6 locksmith security specialist you may undertake some or all the following duties: Provide technical advice and support to staff in Australia and overseas on physical security in line with industry best practice. Apply relevant policy, procedures, and legislation applicable to the role. Build and maintain collaborative relationships with stakeholders across the Department and with other Government agencies. Assist with the delivery for security projects including new security locking installations and maintenance activities. Prepare correspondence, project plans, installation designs, operational and technical reports, and technical security policy to inform and guide the department and its people. Support team outcomes and business initiatives and work well with competing priorities in line with the goals and objectives of the department to deliver effective security improvements. Support the team by representing the division in internal workshops, seminars, and training programs. Provide advice to external stakeholders and other government agencies on DFAT's locksmith services. Display professionalism, collaboration, and trust to ensure a positive and inclusive workplace environment.
