The team
The Sustainability, Financial Reporting and Audit (SFA) team promotes market trust and confidence in the quality of financial and sustainability reports and their audits. The team ensures compliance with the law through financial and sustainability reporting surveillances and audit surveillances, and contributes to policy development, education, sector liaison and other activities to enhance reporting and auditing practices.
The role
As a Senior Auditor, you will be responsible for:
* Leading and conducting financial reporting and audit surveillances of companies and superannuation funds, engaging with senior executives and audit personnel.
* Monitoring compliance with the Corporations Act, Accounting and Auditing standards, and providing expert accounting and audit advice on complex technical issues.
* Developing and implementing audit and financial reporting policy, regulatory guides, and instruments to inform the market and influence behaviour.
* Building and maintaining professional relationships with stakeholders, including industry groups, regulatory bodies, corporations, superannuation funds, and audit firms, and leading sector engagement initiatives.
* Supervising, mentoring, and coaching team members, supporting regulatory functions such as auditor licensing and industry funding, and driving data-driven approaches to deliver regulatory priorities.
About you
You are a strategic thinker with strong analytical and investigative skills, able to communicate complex information clearly and persuasively. You thrive in a dynamic environment, building productive relationships and guiding others to deliver quality outcomes. Your ability to manage multiple projects and adapt to changing priorities ensures you consistently achieve results.
You will also have:
* A qualification in accounting and professional accounting qualifications (CA ANZ, CPA or IPA).
* Significant knowledge of financial reporting and auditing provisions in the Corporations Act, and accounting, auditing and ethical standards.
* Extensive practical experience in external financial audit of companies and/or superannuation funds, ideally in a medium-to-large professional accounting firm or regulatory environment.
* Experience in planning, coordinating and managing complex projects, including leading financial report and audit surveillances.
* Experience providing complex accounting, audit and regulatory advice, including drafting clear, accurate analysis and reports on complex matters.
* Current or recent experience in external audit with exposure to current standards and practices is highly regarded and should be addressed in the cover letter.
