Champion Bay Senior High School (SHS) is seeking to establish a pool of Special Needs Education Assistants for permanent and fixed-term, full-time and part-time vacancies which may arise during the 2026 school year and up to the end of Term 1, 2027. Appointments may be offered at any time for vacancies that commence during this period.
Champion Bay SHS is an Independent Public School that caters for students in Years 7 to 12. The Role
A Special Needs Education Assistant's primary role is to assist teachers with the preparation of resources and programs in order to meet the learning needs of students with disabilities. They will encourage students to reach their Individual Education Plan goals, provide feedback on education and therapy programs, participate in the evaluation process for student goal achievement, and assist with the general health and wellbeing of students.
Suitable applicants should be flexible, team‐oriented, enthusiastic, and excellent communicators with an understanding of behaviour‐management practices and the capacity to display initiative across a variety of settings. Prior experience working with students with special needs and good behaviour‐management skills is highly desirable.

o Demonstrated good organisational skills that will assist in delivering and developing effective education programmes to students and providing feedback to teaching professionals or psychologists.
o Demonstrated ability to assist teachers or therapists in implementing educational programmes, including special education and, if required, occupational and/or physiotherapy programmes.
o Demonstrated knowledge of health and physical disabilities in students and adolescents.
o Demonstrated ability to assist with general health and well‐being of students.
