Your new team - The Digital and Technology Services Branch - provides digital and technology services to this Federal Government organisation and its stakeholders. The Branch works in a business partnership model with all of the Department's divisions to enable regulation of communications and media to maximise the economic and social benefits for Australia. The DTS Branch has four key objectives:
- Manage Information and Cyber Security Risks, to protect, manage, detect, respond, secure information systems and platforms for the Department.
- Deliver Digital and Data Services, to provide the Department with end-to-end digital services and inform decision making through actionable insights resulting from the analysis of the Department's data assets.
- Enable greater staff productivity through connection, collaboration, and efficiency.
- Enhance reliability and availability by establishing contemporary technology platforms that delivers modern business capabilities.
As the Delivery Manager, you will own and drive operational excellence in the teams responsible for new digital product development.
Your new role
Reporting to the Section Manager, this role in DTS will have a direct impact in helping our cross-functional teams deliver incremental value to the business and end user. You'll showcase your enthusiasm for leadership by guiding agile delivery teams in the planning, development, delivery, and early support of digital technology solutions.
No two days will be the same as you manage project delivery aspects including scheduling, people leadership, facilitating agile events, providing thought-leadership, and championing a continuous improvement culture.
You will also regularly engage with key business stakeholders to understand their unique objectives and requests, participate with business analysts in discovery and definition scoping where required, and ultimately triage and prioritise the work.
You will make your mark with stakeholders by proactively keeping them informed and engaged in appropriate formats and forums as well as enabling self-service visibility of status updates in Azure DevOps.
What you'll need to succeed
- Own and drive the digital business pipeline of work in collaboration with Product Owners from across the organisation
- Engage with internal stakeholders to understand objectives and provide discovery and scoping (where required) to triage and prioritise
- Review current state ways of working, workload planning and prioritisation scoring with a lens of continuous improvement and path to best practice
- Proactively deliver recommendations to effectively pilot or embed new practices
- Effectively communicate delivery status updates, leveraging established forums as well as enabling self-service visibility in Azure DevOps
- Manage regular rituals for planning and prioritisation to set the focus for each sprint & increment
- Ensure projects are suitably resourced and report on progress, including risks and issues/problems and solutions
- Drive forward a culture of experimentation and test hypothesis and help embed consistent measurement methodologies
- Lead team retros and embed feedback loops that help drive and support decision making
- Be the face of the team and operate as the trusted advisor that represents both the productivity interests of the business, the wellbeing, development, and satisfaction of our teams
- A Baseline Security Clearance
- 5+ years' experience in roles such as delivery management, scrum master, agile coaching, or equivalent
- Agile certifications desirable
