Our client is a well-respected, fourth-generation family farming operation known for producing quality Australian lamb in our accredited feedlot at Sanderston, South Australia. Finishing over 130,000 lambs per year together with an extensive broadacre cropping program, transport and logistics and retail firewood operation, they provide a diverse workplace that's supported by a large team.
As their needs and their team continues to grow, an opportunity is available for a Heavy Deisel or Light Vehicle Mechanic to join the team as the Manager of their well-equipped and dynamic workshop. With established processes, high quality equipment and a skilled and dedicated team, the Workshop Manager role is responsible for overseeing and coordinating workshop activities alongside the management team to ensure the preventative repairs and maintenance schedule is supportive of business-wide operations.
The Role
Working closely with the farm owners, existing qualified and apprentice Diesel Mechanics and the broader workshop team, the Workshop Manager role blends the paperwork with being on the tools. Our client will value your experience working with heavy vehicles, ideally in an agricultural environment but not essential, to diagnose and repair a wide range of equipment. Equally as important is your ability to manage and motivate a team, coordinate the resources to ensure a fully stocked workshop and design and implement processes to continually improve efficiency and safety.
What you'll bring
Above all, we're looking for someone with a team first attitude and a great approach to working in a dynamic workshop environment. You'll also:
* Have a relevant Heavy Diesel Mechanic qualification (Certificate III minimum)
* Display leadership qualities that will help you manage the performance of a team and the function of a high-volume workshop
* Unrestricted Drivers Licence
* Experience working with heavy vehicles, ideally in the agriculture or transport industry
* Have a willingness to collaborate with a large team to meet the operational needs of the business, however they may change.
* Be adaptable to a variable workday – this is not your usual workshop where schedules and customers rule your priorities.
What's in it for you?
Our client is located a short distance from Mannum and Mount Pleasant in South Australia and offers:
* A generous remuneration package, negotiated to reflect your skills and experience
* An engaging workplace culture, with a variety of social and team building activities and opportunities for growth within the business
* A great approach to workplace flexibility and understanding of work-life balance
* A well-stocked kitchen with a wide variety of on-farm facilities.
If this sounds like the opportunity you've been waiting for, we're looking forward to hearing from you! Please submit your application via SEEK with a resume and cover letter explaining your suitability for the role.
