JB Racks is a fast-growing global eCommerce brand designing and manufacturing premium vertical bike racks and vehicle accessories. We operate across Australia, the USA, UK, and Europe, with offshore manufacturing partners in Asia and global 3PL fulfilment networks.
Role Overview
The Product & Operations Engineer supports product development, manufacturing, quality assurance, and global eCommerce operations. This role works closely with engineering leadership, offshore suppliers, logistics partners, and global warehouses to ensure products are designed, manufactured, shipped, and delivered to a high standard.
Key Responsibilities
Manufacturing & Supplier Support
* Support products from concept through prototype, sampling, and production
* Work with offshore manufacturing partners to drive timelines and cost targets
* Conduct Design for Manufacture (DFM) reviews
* Review tooling and sample builds
* Track sample runs through to production approval
* Participate in supplier visits and audits in Asia
Quality & Validation
* Support incoming inspections and supplier quality issues
* Assist with corrective and preventive actions
* Support first article inspections and production approvals
* Assist with laboratory and field testing, including reporting
* Support supplier audits and quality documentation
Engineering Support
* Review engineering drawings, specifications, and tolerances
* Assist with engineering change management
* Review and interpret FEA results where applicable
* Support continual product improvement initiatives
Sourcing & Commercial Support
* Assist with supplier sourcing and technical evaluations
* Support RFQs and technical discussions
* Assist with purchase order preparation, tracking, and documentation
Global eCommerce Operations
* Support daily operations across global 3PL warehouses (AU, US, UK, EU)
* Coordinate fulfilment accuracy and dispatch SLAs
* Monitor inventory levels and inbound shipments
* Liaise with freight forwarders on containers and customs documentation
* Oversee returns, warranty claims, and replacements
* Track logistics KPIs and prepare weekly reports
* Support product launches and new 3PL onboarding
* Assist with SOP creation and process improvements
Skills & Experience
Essential
* Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or similar
* 2–5 years’ experience in manufacturing, quality, engineering, or operations
* Strong mechanical engineering fundamentals
* Exposure to manufacturing processes and supplier interaction
* Strong organisational and communication skills
* Willingness to travel internationally
Desirable
* Experience in automotive, outdoor, or bicycle products
* Exposure to injection moulding, CNC machining, die casting, or sheet metal
* Experience with DFM, PFMEA / DFMEA, and ISO 9001 systems
* Experience working with offshore suppliers in Asia
* Familiarity with Shopify, ERP, or inventory systems
