About Us
Hysata is on a mission to accelerate the shift from fossil fuels to green hydrogen with the world's most efficient electrolyser. Our breakthrough capillary-fed electrolyser achieves an unprecedented 95% system efficiency (41.5 kWh/kg) – a step change from incumbent technologies, which typically sit at ~75% and already ahead of International Renewable Energy Agency's 2050 target. This leap in performance enables a radically simpler system design, slashing both energy use (opex) and system and renewables capex.
Hysata's innovation has captured global attention, including publication in Nature Communications and support from leading strategic and financial investors such as BP, POSCO and Vestas. With over 100 team members, we're a high-performing, purpose-driven company, proud to be 35% women, representing 20+ nationalities, and united by a shared mission to enable the decarbonisation of hard-to-abate sectors such as steel, chemical manufacturing, shipping and aviation.
Having secured Australia's largest ever cleantech Series B raise of US$111 million, Hysata is scaling rapidly to bring our technology to market. With strong customer demand and a clear path to manufacturing at scale, we are on track to become a global leader in green hydrogen and put a major dent in global emissions.
About The Role
We are seeking a Maintenance Lead to join our Project Execution Team based in Port Kembla. This role will play a critical part in the development, commissioning, and ongoing support of Hysata's first commercial Hydrogen Electrolyser systems, as well as supporting our manufacturing and R&D facility equipment.
The Maintenance Lead will be responsible for establishing maintenance frameworks, developing systems and documentation for commercial plant, while also supporting a range of manufacturing equipment, laboratory assets, and facility services. At times this may be a hands-on, client face-to-face role suited to a practical individual who is comfortable stepping outside their immediate discipline when required and contributing wherever needed to ensure company and project success. You'll be joining a team of smart, driven, collaborative and highly dedicated individuals who love solving engineering challenges and who are excited to be fighting the climate crisis.
Role Responsibilities
Assist in the development and implementation of maintenance and servicing strategies, policies, procedures, and documentation for the first commercial Hydrogen Electrolyser units;
Support maintenance planning and coordination for manufacturing equipment, laboratory equipment, and site facilities services;
Develop, implement, and take ownership of the Computerised Maintenance Management System (CMMS), including asset registers, preventive maintenance strategies, work order management, and reporting;
Define and optimise preventive and predictive maintenance plans to ensure asset reliability and availability;
Support equipment installation, commissioning and transition from project execution to operational readiness;
Participate in and support customer interfaces, including communication on maintenance strategies, asset performance, and documentation;
Collaborate closely with engineering, operations, and project teams to resolve maintenance-related issues;
Contribute hands-on support where required, including assisting with inspections, troubleshooting, and site-based activities outside of core planning responsibilities; and
Ensure maintenance practices align with safety, quality, and regulatory requirements.

Ability to work effectively in a project-based, fast-paced environment;
Strong communication skills with the ability to engage internal stakeholders and external customers; and
Willingness to take a flexible, practical approach and support activities beyond a narrow role definition.
Desirable
Practical, hands-on background in mechanical, electrical, or industrial maintenance;
Experience with commissioning or early-stage operational readiness of new plant or equipment;
Exposure to hydrogen, renewable energy, or hazardous area environments; and
Trade qualification, engineering diploma, or relevant technical background.
Personal Attributes
Practical and solutions-focused with a strong willingness to get involved on-site;
Adaptable and comfortable working across multiple disciplines when required;
Organised, methodical, and able to manage competing priorities;
