As the Finance Officer at BHUDRH, you will oversee financial operations, ensuring compliance with University and Commonwealth reporting standards, preparing budget submissions, and generating monthly financial reports Working closely with the Head of Rural Clinical School and School Manager, y our key responsibilities will be to : manage the financial affairs and resources of the department, advising and supporting the executive committee and head of department on finance-related matters provide guidance on interpreting, applying and implementing university financial policies, procedures and guidelines deliver regular financial analysis, reports and advice, including monthly variance analysis and quarterly/annual forecasts, with a focus on core funding from the Department of Health and Ageing oversee the financial management of specific projects, including research initiatives, ensuring accurate budget submissions, reporting requirements and financial analysis prepare annual budgets and work plans to support departmental operations and strategic objectives monitor compliance with university audit and accounting policies to minimise financial risk and ensure best practices provide strategic and practical advice on audits across relevant projects, ensuring adherence to financial standards collaborate with stakeholders to maintain financial integrity and operational efficiency across departmental initiatives. About you D iploma or A dvanced D iploma in accounting, finance or a relevant field, or an equivalent combination of training and experience membership of the Australian Society of CPA or Institute of Chartered Accountants, along with a current C lass C driver's licence ability to exercise initiative, tact, direction and good judgement while working independently strong skills in interpreting, applying and integrating university financial policies, external requirements and accounting standards proven ability to manage workload effectively, meeting unexpected workflow demands and strict deadlines demonstrated financial management expertise, including budgeting, variance analysis, accounts payable and receivable, reconciliations, journals and asset management excellent communication, interpersonal and negotiation skills to build productive relationships with diverse stakeholders familiarity with university accounting and administration systems, including UniBuy and PeopleSoft.
