Ventia is a leading service provider to the Defence sector. We safely and sustainably deliver a comprehensive range of project management engineering, operations, maintenance, and soft services nationally.

Backed by emerging technology, we provide long-term operation, maintenance, and management of critical assets and infrastructure across numerous sectors including telecommunications, transport, local government, water, power generation, electricity, gas, healthcare, education, resources and defence industries.

You will be joining one of Australia and New Zealand's largest essential infrastructure service providers.

1. Full time 12 Month Fixed Term Opportunity
2. Cremorne, VIC office offering onsite gym & breakfast options as well as easy access to parking & public transport.
3. Travel required at times on contract sites.


Reporting through to the P&C Manager for Defence and managing your own portfolio, this is a true generalist role that will have a key focus across a range of areas including employee relations, performance management, change management, workforce planning, engagement, training and development, recruitment and selection and career/talent management.

Other Role Responsibilities:

4. Execute People Plans that directly enable the delivery of the business strategy.
5. Maintain strategic relationships with senior management to make sure People objectives and outcomes are achieved with the desired outcome and within the required timeframes.
6. Contribute to and support a high-performance culture across the client base and people, through the delivery of quality people initiatives and advice
7. Support the resolution of ER issues, ensuring advice is timely, accurate and legally compliant.
8. Talent – Contribute to the execution of consistent talent practices to identify, develop and source the right talent to deliver strategy.
9. Organisational Design – Ensure the right organisational design and efficient structures are in place to deliver to strategy
10. Change management – lead the planning, design, management and implementation of successful change initiatives
11. Industrial relations – Guide and partner with business leaders in negotiations to deliver strategic and commercially viable outcomes with all stakeholders
12. Recruitment – timely and effective provision of advice and support aligned to budget and headcount and remuneration guidelines
13. Work in partnership with HR Service Centre, payroll and the wider P&C team on people issues and initiatives

About you:

To be successful in your application, you will have a degree in business, HR or related field with experience ideally working in a large service-based organisation.

You will also possess:

14. Solid foundation in HR with an emphasis on ER/IR
15. Experience with managing a team
16. Sound knowledge and application of employment law
17. Experience in change and talent management
18. Excellent judgement, initiative, interpersonal and communication skills
19. Ability to work under pressure when required
20. Excellent stakeholder engagement skills
