Join Defence supporting major programs through cost estimation, analysis and assurance activities.
Your new company
You will be joining a key Defence agency responsible for shaping major capability investment proposals. This area plays a critical role in supporting national capability by providing strategic costing insights that guide decision-making, program planning and long‐term capability development.
Your new role
Multiple opportunities exist for Project Cost Analysts to contribute to a specialised costing function delivering cost modelling, analysis and assurance across high‐priority Defence programs.
In these positions, you will use Defence‐endorsed tools such as CCT, ACEIT or TruePlanning to develop robust cost estimation models, analyse cost risk and uncertainty, and support assessments of project feasibility and affordability.
You will be responsible for:
* Developing cost estimation models for new projects and identified capability gaps
* Conducting risk, uncertainty and TCO analysis
* Revising and updating existing Defence cost models
* Preparing cost briefs, cost assurance documentation and reporting
* Providing mentoring and peer review to APS staff
* Engaging with project teams and stakeholders to validate inputs and present findings
What you'll need to succeed
* Demonstrated experience using CCT, ACEIT or TruePlanning tools
* Strong understanding of total cost of ownership and parametric estimating techniques
* Experience in cost estimation within Defence, security, infrastructure or similar complex sectors
* Ability to evaluate estimate completeness, methodology credibility and value validity
* Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills
* NV1 security clearance

* Role 1: $60-$80 per hour + super
* Role 2: $90-$150 per hour + super
Contracts are expected to run for 12 months, with possible extensions based on performance and program needs.
