Are you an SMSF Accounting Specialist looking to deliver expertise advice and compliance services to clients? Our client is a professional accounting firm, with a dynamic work environment where the team live and breathe their values of collaboration, innovation, growth and integrity.
As the SMSF Specialist you’ll be part of a small team managing all aspects of the administration and compliance partnering closely with clients to optimise their retirement strategies, as well as providing insights into the ever evolving and changing superannuation landscape. You’ll leverage your stakeholder skills and operate as a technical expert for clients, to deliver best practice outcomes.
Day to day you’ll:
* Manage end-to-end administration of SMSFs, including setup, compliance, and wind-ups
* Prepare SMSF financial statements, annual returns, and regulatory documents in accordance with ATO requirements
* Ensure SMSF compliance with SIS Act, ATO regulations, and audit readiness
* Provide strategic advice and guidance to clients on contributions, pensions, and investment structures
* Monitor and advise on changes in superannuation legislation and impacts on client funds
* Coordinate with auditors to ensure smooth and timely completion of SMSF audits
* Use and manage SMSF-specific software (e.g., Class Super, BGL Simple Fund 360)
* Mentor junior accounting team members in SMSF principles, compliance, and administration best practices
As the ideal candidate you’ll:
* Hold a BA in Accounting, Finance or related
* Have completed or be working towards completing CPA or CA qualifications
* Demonstrate an adaptable tailored approach to stakeholder engagement
* Bring a minimum of 5 years specialist experience working with Self Managed Super Funds having managed portfolios
* Have a deep level of SMSF regulatory frameworks and tax compliance experience
* Demonstrate strong technical and analytical skills
* Operate with a high level of attention to detail and accuracy
* Be able to work independently or as part of a team
* Have MS Excel and SMSF systems proficiency (Class Super or BGL 360)
